Hi team,I recently purchased MyDVD 9 via download to replace the MyDVD 6 version I purchased around a year ago. I purchased the full version of mydvd 9, not the upgrade.I installed MyDVD 9 and it seemed to work fine for a while, but after a few days began displaying the message 'The Trial version of this product has expired' when I tried to run the application.I uninstalled mydvd 9, rebooted and did a fresh install which again, seemed to for for a number of days, and now I have the problem again. This means I can't use the application.I have searched the knowledgebase, but there doesn't seem to be any note of this error, although there is a post about this happening to another Roxio product - but not MyDVD.Is anyone having the same trouble, and what's the fix?Help!Andrew. Can someone tell me: How long should I wait for Roxio support to reply to my webticket problem for my full version product that says it's an expired trial??I logged a webticket with Roxio support on the same day that I posted the article below - 27 Jan, 12 days ago.I have yet to get a response, and still can't use my product. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling, deleting the registry entries for all Sonic and Roxio products etc etc etc, and still nothing. And not a peep from Roxio support in the 12 days since about how I can get the product working.I dunno what the expectation should be, but two weeks without any reply at all for a non-nooB question? That sounds poor to me.Or is this normal?A.

Also I tried following the KB artcile below, then rebooted for a clean install:Same problem - worked for a few days, then 'Trial Expired.' That sounds poor to me.Or is this normal?A. Hi there,Many thanks for the post. I really appreciate it as it's the only thing I've heard at all.No one knows Yeah, that kinda scares me. I think that two weeks without a response from technical is pretty bad when I can't use the product.Correct file There is only one way to download. Only one button, only one.exe to get. I can send a screenshot of the page.
It's truly idiot proof. It feels like I've been ripped off. I mean, I've had my money taken, but can't use the product. I could understand if I was getting even a sniff of help from the support crew.Anyhoo. I guess it's just a lost cause?A. Hi there,Many thanks for the post.

I guess it's just a lost cause?ASome people had problems with installing and registering EMC 9 if they had IE 7 but I haven't heard that complaint lately.
If you have IE 7, uninstall MyDVD, clear your cookies, roll back to IE 6 and then install MyDVD again. Run that for a couple of days and then you can reinstall IE 7.You might want to call inside sales at Roxio. They may be able to help with a new registration key. Sales may be more responsive on this particular problem. Have all your purchase documentation ready.I know there is a post to remove the trial version of EMC 9 before installing the full version. That should not have happened with your much earlier version and with MyDVD 9.
Did you get any registration screens initially and then later to activate the mpg codec? Hi there,Many thanks for the post. I really appreciate it as it's the only thing I've heard at all.No one knows Yeah, that kinda scares me.

I guess it's just a lost cause?ADo you have Vista installed? Some people had problems with installing and registering EMC 9 if they had IE 7 but I haven't heard that complaint lately.

I'll look to try that fix. It certainly installed fine.
Everything went smoothly and as expected (got the usual screens that ask for serial etc), and was asked to register the key with Roxio (which I did) - and then it ran fine for a few days before the 'Trial' problem surfaced.Ivanatrox (moderator) is looking into it for me which is great. I'll see what happens and go from there. Thanks for your post!A. Hi there,Yep, I'm running IE7. I'll look to try that fix. It certainly installed fine.

Could that be a possible cause?Maybe I'll give that a crack also.ADone - many thanks for looking into this!AYes, disable Norton while you install.
Also, remove IE 7 and also WMP 11, if you have that installed. Just 2 more poor outputs by Microsoft, that are absolutely not needed. Well, an update: Tech support came back (FINALLY! I think I may need to thank Ivanatrox for the escalation) saying that I needed to do a clean install and gave me a link.Unfortuantely, this is the link I detailed above, and something that I have already tried, twice.Once as per the instructions and a second time after fully uninstalling my Norton AV product.Still the same problem. A days later, whammo - Trial Expired.Interesting note though - I really love the product for the 24 hours I have it!So yeah, definately want it working.I've asked for the webticket to be reopened.
In the meantime, I'll try your suggestion, as yep, I'm running both IE7 and WMP11.One question though: MyDVD 9 is listed as being designed for XP or VISTA. Doesn't Vista have WMP11 and IE7 by default, meaning the product should work with these?Wish me luck!A. Well, an update: Tech support came back (FINALLY! Do you have the Deluxe version? Did you use Norton WinDoctor to get rid of invalid registry entries? The reason that I ask is because I did, an the next time that I tried to open EMC 9 Deluxe, I got the Trial Version Has Expired error. I ghosted my main partition back to a point just before the Deluxe install. I did not install the Deluxe version again. I have the regular EMC 9, and I don't have that problem with Norton. Now, I have to ask a couple of questions.

It sits between MyDVD™ 9 Studio, and EMC 9.I didn't use WinDoctor to change the registry entries, but removed them manually as per the Roxio technical support instructions when doing a full, clean install of the product. This would be OK, would it not?
Or do you recommend I uninstall myDVD as per the Roxio instructions (ie. Edit registry etc) then run WinDoctor and try again?Actually, it seems like the best plan is to give myDVD back and pay the extra to get EMC 9. If that's a possible answer, tell your colleagues I'll take it!!A.
Well, it looks like I have MyDVD 9 working now. It has been 5 days without the “Trial Expired” note coming up.
YAY!So, I didn’t roll back IE7, nor did I roll back from WMP11 - here’s what I did on my last install attempt. (Must have been my 6th go at it.)There are three things that were different to other installs:Firstly: I followed the clean install instructions again, (as usual) and removed all Sonic and Roxio entries from all the various places, including HDD directories and the various registries. I also unhooked from the internet and disabled absolutely anything that I thought could get in the way of a clean uninstall/re-install – also as per previous times. The Roxio instructions for a clean install said to remove the entries under KEYCURRENTUSER amongst other things all of which I followed as per usual. However, this time, I thought I’d step outside of the instructions and go looking elsewhere. There is a HKEYUSERS entry in the registry also, so I jumped in there and started sniffing around.
There are a number of other “users” in there with odd names – nothing that is or has been on my PC. Usernames that look like the designation for the avian bird flu. (H5N1 isn’t it?) Seriously though, stuff like S-1-15-2 or whatever. There were about half a dozen of these “users.”Anyway, I went sniffing around in each of these and ‘hello sailor’ – under the software area of one of them there was an entry called “Sonic Solutions” under one of those random users.
“Sonic Solutions” was not something that was identified that should be removed in the instructions, nor was it identified in that random user entry in the registry. I can only assume that this was put in by the MyDVD 6 install utility as it was the only Sonic product I’ve ever installed. It would be good to have this added to the clean install instructions for EMC etc. After removing all these, I deleted my cached IE7 files again, and deleted the contents of the recycling bin, then rebooted.Secondly: On install of MyDVD 9, I decided to copy and paste the serial key instead of typing it – just in case I was getting it wrong when typing. I thought that maybe even though I was SURE, doubly sure that I was getting it right, I though I’d paste it to remove all doubt. As I pasted the key, I noticed that it was pasting in caps as that was the way the CD key was presented in the email Maybe this was a factor? Not only that, Dazzle had drivers missing, and there were other problems too.I should have listened to the reviews from others who said this software stinks!I have had Version 7 and it worked fine after I got the bugs worked out a couple of years back.
I'm receiving the exact same issue. I recently purchased a Dell XPS 410 and the system came preinstalled with Roxio Creator DE (Dell Edition in other words). It's essentially a stripped down/handicapped version of the one you're talking about.Just a couple of days ago, I began receiving the dreaded 'The trial version of this product has expired' message as well.
Ironically (though perhaps not surprisingly), Dell does not provide its customers with an installation CD for Roxio apparently (or so says their support staff). Nevertheless, I managed to coax the technician into sending me a reinstallation CD, which should be arriving by mail tomorrow. At that point, I'll give the advice here a shot and report back if all goes as planned.
This really is an annoying issue, particulary because I told myself I wouldn't have to reinvest in disc burning software thanks to my perfectly sufficient preinstalled Roxio suite. Vista compatible indeed.Anyone else have any advice to share prior to the commencement of my efforts?Steve. Nope-we're talking about the precise version that shipped with my computer. The only thing I did that I could even remotely consider to have been the root of the cause is that I initiated a Windows Anytime Upgrade from Home Premium to Ultimate. Apart from that, nothing has been changed. And even so, the problem should not be occurring. Granted, I also had seemingly unrelated problems with Dell's Resource CD installer shortly after that (which complains of Error 331: a missing/incorrectly registered ssa3d30.ocx upon every launch), but that still doesn't change that fact that this happened here.
If the Anytime Upgrade did in fact cause the problem, this is something that Microsoft/Roxio most certainly need to be investigating to help prevent discouraging users from purchasing Roxio products or Anytime Upgrades from Microsoft in the future. For a short bit, I was tempted to purchase an upgrade from my Nero Version 6, install it, and be done with it altogether (since I have yet to date been comfortable with Nero software).I called Dell XPS support, and after holding for over an hour, I got on the line with a mildly knowledgeable tech. He ran me through some routine diagnostic tests first and foremost to rule out any drive/memory issues, and when everything passed (and he had completed his brief researching of the problem), he condemned the issue as 'one that Roxio is aware of and working on' and he assured me that it should probably be fixed in a future update (though clearly he has no idea, working for Dell as a technician). I'm having exactly the same problem as Ando (thanks so much for starting this thread, Ando). MyDVD 9 Studio Premier. And I'm madder than hell after spending a bunch of money on this, just like Cedarhill.
I haven't been able to use it at all in the last two weeks because quite frankly I don't have the time to figure out why the heck this thing thinks I bought a trial version that expired. I finally managed to finish a project right before the Trial Expired message started coming on-I finished the project and was just about to burn a DVD when this happened, but never got to, so I'm incredibly steamed.I'm really glad that Ando found a fix for him, but I don't feel like spending four hours to see if it works for me. Not after I paid good money for something that I, you know, figured should WORK and all. And a 'solution' like not using IE7 isn't a solution at all-that's a kluge. I want a working version of what I paid for.
If Roxio can't get this to work correctly with the latest versions of IE and XP, they just shouldn't release it.Roxio, are you going to fix this, or do I get my money back? I'm having exactly the same problem as Ando (thanks so much for starting this thread, Ando). MyDVD 9 Studio Premier.

'Trial expired' is back.It seems that my previous 'fix' wasn't a fix at all. So, I guess the only thing for me to try now is to roll back to IE6 and WMP10. However, I'm just about to upgrade my entire system to a dual-core machine and go with a fresh install of Vista. So I guess from here I'm wondering if anyone can provide assurity that it will work with Vista.Let me know.Chow for now,Ando. I'm receiving the exact same issue.

MyDVD Combo LE install disk. I removed this Light version and installed 8.01 and have had limited problems which are solved for the moment. Going to 9 after I install Vista in a few weeks. That should be interesting. I'm also running IE7 without a problem.
A new problem.I tried uninstalling and reinstalling My DVD9-first using the 'clean install' instructions, and a second time just using the Windows Add/Remove Programs. After doing this both times, I get the following error messages. I don't even actually have to start running the program-they come up as soon as I login.First, I get a window like this:Microsoft Visual C Runtime LibraryBuffer overrun detected!Program: sRoxio Shared9.0SharedCOMRoxWatchTray9.exeA buffer overrun has been detected which has corrupted the program’s internal state. The program cannot safely continue execution and must now be terminated. And then, after I click the “OK” button, another window pops up with this:Microsoft Visual C Runtime LibraryRuntime Error!Program: sRoxio Shared9.0SharedCOMRoxWatchTray9.exeR6025- pure virtual function callAfter I click OK, it might be alright for awhile and give me no error messages (keep in mind I'm still not trying to run the program). When I do run the progam, the main menu comes up for a few seconds, then I get this same series of error windows, after which the program shuts down.Has anyone else seen this?
