GarageBand's Jam Pack add-on comes with a lot of great additional Software Instruments, Effects and Loops. One of the new instruments, the 12 String Chords Guitar, emulates a person strumming guitar chords (3 or more simultaneous notes) instead of playing an individual note. There are a total of 24 chords, 12 major & 12 minor chords.
If you're using the onscreen keyboard, the split between the major and minor chords is at the E key above the C3 key. Everything below the E3 key is Major, everything from E3 and above is Minor. I've put together a list of Software Instruments and Real Instrument settings both in HTML and as an Excel Spreadsheet. You can view it and download the Excel fileThe instruments I particularly like was the 12-String Chord Guitar, the tremolo guitar, the deep and fingered basses, and the Tribal Kit (which includes a fantasic Rainstick sample). I suppose one of the tribal kit drums could be similar to a bodhran, though you can't emulate the pitch nuances a true bodhran player can pull off.Hope that helps.P.S. I've put together a song that uses the tremolo guitar, rainstick, organ, jazz kit and bass. It's available at GBXchange.com: You can listen to it.
